The AVPD Explorer Program will host an Open House on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016 at 7 p.m.
The Explorer Post is designed for those interested in law enforcement between the ages of 14 and 21 years and are enrolled in at least the 9th grade in school. Participants in this program meet weekly with members of the Apple Valley Police Department and learn about topics and acquire the skills necessary to be successful in Law Enforcement. Some of these topics include: how to conduct traffic stops, respond to bomb threats, crime scene investigation and hostage negotiation.
Many youth who have participated in this program have become Police Officers and have had successful careers. Whether you have a strong ambition to become a Police Officer or just have a general interest in law enforcement joining the Explorer Post may be for you. The friendships and leadership skills gained through this program will last a lifetime.
