[ARCHIVED] Major Delays September 10-14 on Galaxie Ave & 140th St W

Galaxie

Northbound and southbound Galaxie Avenue will be reduced to a single lane from 7am to 7pm, westbound 140th Street will be reduced to a single lane, and eastbound 140th Street will be reduced to a single lane from 7am to 3pm for the week of September 10th.

As part of the construction of the Galaxie Avenue and 140th Street intersection improvements, the traffic signal system will be turned off Monday, September 10, after the morning rush hour (9:00 a.m.) and an All-Way Stop will be installed. The signal system will be off until Friday, September 14, at which time the plan is to have the signal back in operation by 3:00 pm.

During this time, the traffic signal poles on the northeast and southwest corners of the intersection will be relocated onto new foundations. All old signal cables will be removed from the signal system and replaced with new signal cables, and the controller cabinet will be replaced. The existing conduits will be extended into the new signal hand holes on each corner of the intersection.

Additional work during this time includes excavation in the boulevard area on the northeast corner and starting construction of the retaining wall.
