Are you aware of structure maintenance requirements in the City of Apple Valley? City ordinances require a minimum standard for the maintenance of structures to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of the occupants and the surrounding neighborhood.
The following are guidelines for maintaining structures:
1. Exterior of all structures should be maintained in good repair.
2. Exterior wood surfaces should be protected from the elements and decay by paint, stain or other protective treatment.
3. Structural members should be maintained free of deterioration.
4. Exterior walls should be maintained free of holes, breaks, loose, missing, or rotting materials.
5. Roofs should remain weather resistant and function as intended.
6. Decks, porches, stairways, and similar structures should be structurally sound, maintained in good repair, and capable of supporting imposed loads.
7. Windows, skylights and doors shall be kept in good repair and weather tight.
8. Address numbers (minimum 4” in height) should be installed on all residential and commercial structures so as to be plainly visible from the street.
