Did you know that late winter, when trees are in the peak of their dormancy; is the most ideal time for trimming most trees? Maybe you have trees that need to be trimmed, and maybe you have dead trees that need to be removed. You might consider having dead trees removed along with any trimming that needs to be done. The cost for removal of a dead tree may be less when combined with trimming service than if a contractor is requested to remove a dead tree alone. While trimming be aware of property lines and any undesirable effects your trees may have on neighboring properties. A minimum height has been established by ordinance for tree limbs overhanging public streets and sidewalks. The minimum heights are 13 feet and 10 feet respectively.
Dead trees, that are not removed, rot over time and can become hazardous. Rotting trees are more likely to fall unpredictably, and break apart causing damage to homes, structures, property, and potentially people. Hazard trees perched over power lines, homes, and public right of ways can be a threat to public health, safety, and welfare of the community. Notify power companies regarding hazardous trees encroaching around power lines. City ordinance requires that hazardous trees be removed at expense to the property owner. You may remove these trees yourself, but remember if the work is performed by a tree contractor the contractor must be licensed by the city.
